Machu Picchu Places Limits on Tourism

Another archaeological site struggles with over-tourism. Peru’s Ministry of Tourism wants to promote the sustainable use of the site and will limit access to some parts of the citadel during certain times of the day
in order to still accommodate thousands of travelers.

Beginning on May 29th, the Intiwatana Pyramid, Temple of the Condor and the Temple of the Sun all open with limited times. While access to these areas are limited, the rest of the highlights are available during the regular operating hours 6:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.
